& Neurodiagnostic Services Florida
Hospital Altamonte offers sophisticated diagnostic and treatment procedures for
cardiac and neurological patients. The cardiac and neurodiagnostic services are
supported by Florida Hospital Altamonte's critical care nursing team and high-tech
monitoring equipment, as well as the support of Florida Hospital's nationally
recognized cardiac program. These services are available on an inpatient and outpatient

Hospital Altamonte has a Level II Emergency Department providing emergency services
to communities in Orange and Seminole Counties 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
The patient care areas are designed and specially equipped to care for all medical
and surgical emergencies for patients of all ages.
Endoscopy
Services Florida
Hospital Altamonte offers complete inpatient and outpatient endoscopy services
in their newly renovated Endoscopy Center - with five procedure rooms, 17 admit/recovery
beds and 4 holding/consultation rooms. Back

Services Florida
Hospital Altamonte offers a comprehensive range of maternity services.
The
unit includes 18 private rooms, birthing rooms, and two birthday suites ( large,
home-like rooms). -
Lactation services are available seven days a week, as well as 24-hour in-house
anesthesia services.
For
critically ill infants, our maternity unit is back by a Level III Newborn intensive
Care Unit at Florida Hospital Orlando. A transport team is available 24-hours
a day to transport critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients. Links:

Medicine The
Pain Medicine Center at Florida Hospital Altamonte's Outpatient Surgery Plaza
provides a comprehensive approach and treatment option to help individuals who
suffer from chronic pain associated with injury or illness. Patients
are accepted in the Florida Hospital Pain Medicine Program through physician referral

- Board-certified anesthesiologist,
fellowship trained in the management of pain*, along with registered nurses and
other professionals provide a high level of care for patients experiencing pain.

Services The
Radiology Department at Florida Hospital Altamonte offers a wide range of sophisticated,
state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures within a healing type environment:
- · General and fluoroscopic
x-ray procedures for viewing the gall bladder, gastrointestinal tract and other
internal organs

Three Computerized Tomography (CT) scanners for viewing internal organs in three-dimensional
and cross-sectional images

SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computerized Tomography) tests for the liver, bone
and parathyroid. This measures blood distribution and detects artery blockages.
- Nuclear
medicine tests for studying the anatomical structure and functioning of internal
organs such as the thyroid, bones, lungs, liver, gallbladder and heart
- New, state-of-the-art
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)uses radio frequency pluses to produce images

surgical procedures, including: Sleep
Disorder Services 
Florida Hospital Altamonte
is helping those with sleep disorders achieve more normal sleep patterns through
the Center for Sleep Disorders. The center can help treat common sleep disorders
such as: - Insomnia:
the inability to sleep due to stress, breathing disorders, temporary pain, and
misuse/overuse of sleeping pills

Narcolepsy: sudden and uncontrollable attacks of sleepiness during inappropriate
times of the day
-
Apnea: periods of not breathing, as frequently as several hundred times during
sleep due to blockage of the upper airway and diseases of the central nervous
system
-
Parasomnias: somnambulism (sleep walking, nightmares, and night terrors)
- Other disorders:
seizures, bruxism (grinding of teeth) and other conditions that cause abnormal
sleep patterns
Admission
Procedure You
can be self- or physician-referred to the Florida Hospital Altamonte Center for
Sleep Disorders. If you are referred by a physician, ask them to send any pertinent
information that is less than six months old to the center. You will be asked
to complete the following: - a
questionnaire concerning your medical, psychological and sleep history. Which
will be reviewed by an accredited panel of medical doctors which include neurologist,
psychologists, pulmonary specialists and ENT (ear, nose, and throat) physicians
- a consultation
with a sleep specialist where a brief history and physical will be done along
with orientation. Please call the Center between 6 am and 3:30 pm to schedule
an appointment

Specialists will use the latest diagnostic equipment to record and monitor your
sleep patterns, heartbeat activity, breathing and body movements.
