A patient's hospital experience can be very unnerving. To provide comfort and support, chaplains are on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Chaplains understand the importance of faith and prayer for healing. At Florida Hospital, spiritual interventions complement medical treatment, making us a leader in healing the whole person: body, mind and spirit.

Chaplains are trained professionals and are integral members of the healing team at Florida Hospital. Chaplains are sensitive to the medical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients, family and friends, as well as the needs of the staff. Our chaplains are available to offer support to persons of all religious backgrounds. The chaplain invites meaningful and healthy use of an individual's spiritual beliefs and resources in the midst of crisis and illness.

Pastoral Care is fully integrated into the treatment program of the Hospital:

  • Chaplains receive referrals from physicians and nurses.
  • Chaplains participate in interdisciplinary care conferences.
  • Chaplains enter their services into the medical records.
  • Chaplains provide support to patients, family and staff 24 hours every day.
  • Chaplains provide a bridge to community clergy as needed.

The essence of pastoral care is our belief in a God who cares and wants to support us in our daily walk. Chaplains, as representatives for God stand ready to assist you in your walk.
